On August 12, 2025, the Palm Springs Unified School District Board of Education recognized one of our community’s most dedicated advocates, Jackie Terry, with its inaugural Making a Difference Award. This honor celebrates her tireless commitment to students, families, and educational equity.
Jackie Terry is a founding member of the District’s African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC), established in 2016, and has served as its board secretary for the past five years. Through her leadership, she has been a driving force in promoting student success and fostering an inclusive, supportive school culture.
Beyond her role in AAPAC, Ms. Terry has generously contributed her time, talents, and resources to numerous district and school committees. Her work has left a positive and lasting impact—helping shape policies, strengthen parent engagement, and create a school environment where every student feels valued.
“Jackie has shown an unwavering commitment to our students and schools,” the Board shared. “Her efforts have made a difference not only in academic achievement but also in the overall environment and culture of our district.”
At Urban Palm Springs, we celebrate Jackie Terry’s well-deserved recognition. She exemplifies the power of community leadership and the difference one dedicated individual can make. Her work continues to inspire and remind us that lasting change begins with those who care enough to act.
Congratulations, Jackie! Your impact will be felt for generations.
