CV Link Ribbon Cutting Expands Access to Recreation for Desert Highland Gateway Estates

The long-awaited ribbon cutting for the CV Link was a celebration of community, connectivity, and progress. The event marked a major milestone in providing residents across Palm Springs—and especially those in the Desert Highland Gateway Estates neighborhood—with safe, scenic access to recreation and active transportation.

The CV Link, a 40-mile multi-use pathway stretching through the Coachella Valley, is designed to promote healthy living, sustainability, and safer routes for cyclists, pedestrians, and low-speed electric vehicles. For the Desert Highland Gateway Estates community, this project represents more than just a path—it’s an investment in access, equity, and opportunity.

For years, local residents have advocated for safer biking routes and outdoor spaces that encourage health and recreation for youth and families. Now, the CV Link offers a direct connection to surrounding parks, schools, and amenities, empowering young people to explore their city while staying active and safe.

The “Come Ride With Us” (CRWU) Bike Club, based at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, proudly participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony and inaugural community ride. Dressed in matching CV Link shirts and helmets, the CRWU riders—made up of local youth and mentors—symbolized what this project is all about: building bridges through recreation and inspiring the next generation to move forward together.

The addition of the CV Link in Palm Springs underscores Urban Palm Springs’ mission to support equitable access to recreation, wellness, and public spaces in historically underserved neighborhoods. By opening pathways like this, the city is not only connecting communities physically, but also paving the way for a healthier and more inclusive future for all residents.
