Income and Poverty play a major role in the dynamics and context of the Palm Springs Community. Recognition of a racial divide and income inequality must be accepted and addressed in city government.
These numbers are a direct result of the historical events surrounding Section 14 and the displacement of lower class residents in the 1950/1960s.
The city could use this demographic information and data to identify programs that would best serve residents of these disadvantaged areas.
